Van Mahotsav Celebration at Ashiana

4-August-2018 Event

In an earnest attempt to lend a green touch to the environment and to sensitize the students about their role in conserving it, Ashiana Public School Sector 46-A and Toddlers Ashiana Sector 9-D, Chandigarh enthusiastically celebrated Van Mahotsav on the school campus. The celebration was an ideal opportunity to instill the value of social responsibility on the students towards safeguarding trees and forests. The focus of the celebration was towards forming a personal connection between the students and environment through process of experience, reflection and creation.

This year, the school took a unique initiative involving various students especially the ones who had their birthday on the day of the celebrations to plant one sapling each. What stands out about the entire drive was the fact that the students will not only plant the sapling but will nurture, adopt and take care of them as their own. The initiative gave them an insight that as they grow so would be these saplings. The school children whole heartedly took part in the event and pledged to look after them. These children planted tree saplings at various places on the school campus and sowed seeds for organic vegetable garden.

The Director, Mrs.Lalita Prakash and the Principal , Mrs.Monika Sharma  encouraged the students regarding  the need for the plantation for the protection of green cover of the Mother earth, which is very necessary for healthy living and existence of mankind. She further added that the saplings would not only beautify the surroundings but also lead to green, eco-friendly and pollution free environment.

The event proved to be a great success. It helped to bring awareness among the young generation towards their responsibility towards cleaner, greener earth.
